Henson has a long and varied background in public service in the D.C. area. She was once president of community impact development for United Way Worldwide in Alexandria. Of his selection, Superintendent Sherman remarked: "In searching for someone to fill this position, I was particularly keen on finding someone deeply connected to Alexandria's community and who understood our school division."
