What if we all gave on one day? On Wednesday, April 20, we can! Join us for Spring2ACTion, 24 hours of online giving to support the nonprofits that make Alexandria strong. Last year, 9,431 donors raised an amazing $1,276,909 for 129 nonprofits serving our community. In 2016, our goals are to engage 10,000 donors to raise $1.5 million! To meet this goal, we need your help!

On Wednesday, April 22, we can! Join us for Spring2ACTion, 24 hours of online giving to benefit nonprofits serving Alexandria. Last year, Spring2ACTion raised $1,031,282 in one day for 121 nonprofits. This year, our goal is to raise more than million dollars and engage 10,000 donors to give! To meet this goal, we need your help.

On April 9th during Spring2Action — one day of incredible giving in Alexandria — hundreds of local nonprofits raised an unprecedented $1,000,000+ in 24 hours. SCAN was thrilled to be a part of the day, surpassing its own goal of $10,000 thanks to the generosity of more than 80 donors.

Spring2ACTion in one word, is amazing. No, I take that back. It's inspiring. Thrilling. Motivational. Moving. Unique.

Where else will you find friends and strangers alike who rally together to support local organizations like our small, (but growing!) non-profit, Space of Her Own (SOHO)?

We're still coming down from all the excitement last week during Spring2ACTion. It's still on my mind, at least. So here's an infographic on how online giving is changing the landscape for nonprofits:

After adding on the almost $700 in cash donation made at Alexandria branches of Virginia Commerce Bank, our presenting sponsor, Spring2ACTion 2012 raised more than $320,000 for Alexandria nonprofits in just 24 hours! Spring2ACTion is the biggest Alexandria fundraising event ever thanks to you!

What your contributions mean for local nonprofits

• Casa Chirilagua can now start an after-school middle school program for kids living in the Chirilagua area of Arlandria.

• The Art League can build a new art facility to continue to provide affordable art education.

• YMCA Alexandria can provide 21 more kids scholarships to summer camp.

• Friends of Guest House can continue parenting classes for women coming out of incarceration to help them transition successfully back into community and family life.   

• Senior Services of Alexandria is able to extend its Meals on Wheels Program to serve seniors on more Saturdays and Sundays.

ACTion Alexandria's biggest action of the year, Spring2ACTion, begins at midnight on May 2, and we urge you to help us make it a record breaker. Last year, we all worked together to raise $104,000. This year, our goal is to help local nonprofits raise $200,000 in just 24 hours!

• Alexandria's citizens should be proud! During the Spring2Action online fundraiser from May 5th to 7th, the $100,000 goal was surpassed with donations of more than $104,000!

We are still counting all the numbers and checking them a zillion times but no matter how you slice it, you made Spring2ACTion a HUGE Success! We can't thank you enough!

May 5, 6 and 7, we're working with YOU and 44 nonprofit partners to raise $100,000 and engage 1,500 Alexandrians in local giving. Alexandria nonprofits have a huge impact on our community and are one reason why Alexandria is such a great place to call home.

We're biased but we LOVE our new Spring2ACTion flyers. Not everyone is a fan of what I call "disco pink," but you can't deny it gets your attention.
