And The Winning Logo Is.....
First, thanks so much to all of you who answered our call for constructive feedback on our final three logo designs. It's been a long and illuminating process and your feedback was just the right kick we needed to make a final decision. The steering committee synthesized and reviewed your comments on the three final three logos designed for us by Ben Roberts and his team at Six Half Dozen and held one last vote.
And the winner is.....
This logo was the clear winner because the committee felt it both payed homage to the uppercase "ACT" from our sponsor ACT for Alexandria and conveyed the idea of people interacting online and in person thanks to the clever, interactive relationship between the "T" and "i." We are trying to build an online platform that inspires offline action so communicating the importance of people interacting in person as well as through technology was a very important requirement for our logo.
While we know that everyone won't agree with our choice, we do hope you will continue to support our efforts in community building an engagement as ACTion Alexandria continues to move forward. We couldn't be more pleased with your feedback and our new logo, so thanks, and stay tuned for more.

On Tuesday September 4th, the transformation of one of Community Lodgings’ five apartment buildings will begin – a full-fledged renovation! When I took over as Executive Director seven years ago, I set a long-term goal to ensure all our families lived in safe, comfortable homes. Over the years, out of sheer financial necessity, I was forced to take a “band-aid” approach to building repairs. Seven years later, with help from HomeAid Northern Virginia, Pulte Homes and the City of Alexandria, our long-term goal becomes reality.
A few weeks ago, a small group of "civic hackers" met in a conference room at ForumOne Communications in Alexandria to discuss what kind of applications they should build as a part of the Northern Virginia Brigade of Code for America.
