Volunteer Alexandria and ACTion Alexandria have teamed up and compiled a list of the most pressing items needed for nonprofit organizations located in Alexandria.

DASH: Toys for Tots

Action

DASH representatives will be at the King Street Metro Station collecting donations for Toys for Tots. Help make this holiday season special for Alexandria’s disadvantaged children.

DASH will be onsite inside the entrance to the King St. Metro station on the following dates:

• Tuesday, December 11 from 4 – 7 p.m.

This week, help Community Partners for Children raise $2,000 to help provide new toys to 650 children in need in Alexandria this holiday season.

Success! Record Breaking Holiday Donation Drive

thank_you_wordle You outdid yourselves this time! Our previous weeklong fundraising record was $2,690 for The Art League's SOHO mentoring program in October.

Thanks to your amazing holiday-inspired community spirit, we helped raise a total of $2,785 for Community Partners for Children's Holiday Donation Drive. This year, the need was greater than ever with more than 350 families needing assistance through the City's Holiday Sharing Program.

Saturday, December 17th, from 7:30AM until 4:00PM the Community Partner's for Children Toy Drive needs your helping hands. The Winter Wonderland will be at the Mt. Vernon Rec Center, located at 2701 Commonwealth Avenue. You're already contributing so much to the life of a child this holiday, but we still need volunteers to make sure the Winter Wonderland pick-up goes smoothly.

Thanks to the amazing response, we met our $1,000 goal on the first day. So we've doubled our goal to $2,000.

Success! 54 Toys for Center for Alexandria's Children

center_for_alexandria's_children_toys Way to go ACTion Heroes!

32 of you take action last week and donated 54 new toys to the Center for Alexandria's Children developmental playgroups. The toys you donated were selected by CAC staff to support children in all aspects of their emotional, social, cognitive and physical development.

Brain development in the first 3 years is critical to life-long academic outcomes and the language and literacy rich environment provided by the CAC developmental playgroups help address the gap in development of young children for some of the most vulnerable and underserved families in Alexandria.
