About
United Way of the National Capital Area improves our community by focusing on three key elements for a good quality of life.
- EDUCATION:
United Way of the National Capital Area views education – from prenatal through work and life readiness – as one of three critical areas for our region to address. The Education Initiative will comprise five core areas of focus, covering the full continuum of education and child development.
- 1. All children are ready for kindergarten;
- 2. All children read proficiently by grade 4;
- 3. All students have a successful transition in and out of middle school;
- 4. All students graduate high school on time; and
- 5. All students are ready for success in college and work.
- FINANCIAL STABILITY:
United Way NCA works to increase the number of individuals and families who are financial stable by focusing on three key areas:
- 1. Affordable Housing
- 2. Income Supports
- 3. Services for Vulnerable Residents
- HEALTH:
United Way NCA works to improve the health and well-being of area residents by focusing on three primary community objectives:
- 1. Access to affordable health care
- 2. Child wellness
- 3. Behavioral changes regarding nutrition and exercise
