Mission

ACTion Alexandria’s mission is to promote grassroots engagement and philanthropy to improve our community. Funded in part through a Knight Foundation Community Information Challenge Grant, ACTion Alexandria works closely with local government and nonprofit organizations to collect and prioritize community needs and turn them into actions and solutions.

ACT for Alexandria, Alexandria’s community foundation, and the City of Alexandria partnered to create an innovative new online civic engagement initiative called ACTion Alexandria that brings together neighbors and local nonprofit organizations to exchange ideas, coordinate efforts, and solve problems in our community.

Help Build New KaBOOM! Playground in Old Town

In partnership with ARHA, KaBOOM! and the Washington Capitals, we're building a new $75,000 playground in Old Town's Hopkins-Tancil Court neighborhood on September 13, 2025.

What if we all gave one one day?

ACTion Alexandria's biggest action of the year, Spring2ACTion, begins at midnight on May 2, and we urge you to help us make it a record breaker. Last year, we all worked together to raise $104,000. This year, our goal is to help local nonprofits raise $200,000 in just 24 hours!

City of Alexandria Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

Date: Monday, May 28, 2025 - 11:00am - 12:00pm

Location: Mount Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Avenue, Alexandria, VA

The Program will include reading the names of the 67 heroes, a Tribute to Capt. Rocky Versace written by his fellow POW, COL James N. "Nick" Rowe (USMA 1960), guest speakers, a wreath laying, playing of "Taps" and the singing of "God Bless America."
