Arts on the Horizon presents Under the Canopy, a 20-minute, interactive, nonverbal show that both entertains and provides a stimulating sensory experience for young children. The show invites the audience to enter a theatrical world inspired by the wonders of the rainforest. Using colorful objects and playful sounds, our performers will discover and build a rainforest setting around, within, and above the children and their familes. The show will include whistling flowers, a clacking caterpillar and brightly colored umbrella birds. After each performance, children are invited to explore the different props and objects used to create the playscape.
Arts on the Horizon will be collecting diapers and baby food that will be donated to Community Lodgings to help disadvantaged local families during the winter months. Community Lodgings' mission is to lift families from homelessness and instability to independence and self-sufficiency through Transition-in-Place Housing, Affordable Housing and Youth Education Programs. Patrons can bring in baby food and diapers to all the performances of Under the Canopy, February 12-23, 2014 and place their donations in the bins.
Performances are February 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21 and 23, 2014 at 10:30 am.
Tickets are $5 for children and adults and can be purchased online at www.artsonthehorizon.org or at the door on the day of the performance.
