ALIVE! Food Unloading

The Alexandria Jaycees are affiliated with ALIVE! to offer assistance in their programs to help the less fortunate in our community. ALIVE! is an acronym for ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically; it is a group of approximately 40 congregations in Alexandria. The Last Saturday Food Distribution is one of seven programs run by ALIVE!, which is the largest social safety net in the city. ALIVE! serves all in the community regardless of their religious affiliation. On the last Saturday of every month, ALIVE! has groups of volunteers process food “orders” for needy families and individuals in our community. The volunteers sort and bag food; then hand it out to the clients.
