Your RSVP Could Be Worth $10,000 to Cora Kelly Elementary
The Cora Kelly Elementary School PTA is on a mission to build a new playground, and you can help them win a grant worth up to $10,000 from KaBoom, a non-profit that helps communities build playgrounds.
According to Ashley Chappell, treasurer of the Cora Kelly PTA, the playground needs a to be retooled. In a recent interview, Chappell told the Del Ray Patch that the current playground is old and outdated, not accessible to all students, and has drainage issues that pose a health threat to students thanks to the recent discovery of a mosquito carrying West-Nile Virus. Nor does the current playground support Cora Kelly's focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics as a STEM school.
The PTA has a fundraising goal of $115,000 for the new playground and has already raised more than $72,000. And thanks to KaBoom, they have a chance to raise up to another $10,000. To win, they need to get as many volunteers as possible RSVP to attend their Play Day this Saturday. You can help clean up the playground, play games, and give input on what should be included in the new playground.
