This week's featured organization is...Adult Career Pathways!
Adult Career Pathways, NOVA
Adult Career Pathways (ACP) is an adult academic counseling-based program of Northern Virginia Community College which has campuses across Northern Virginia including in Alexandria. ACP provides adult students with a structured support system to help students navigate the unique challenges that adults face while attending college. Participants of the ACP program receive ongoing support and guidance through each step of the college experience.
The ACP program is designed to serve adult students with demonstrated barriers to college access and success, including veterans, single parents, lower-wage workers, work-eligible immigrants, and unemployed and underemployed individuals. ACP creates a pathway for adult students to earn a certificate, degree, or other credential that may help them secure a better job with a path to advancement and greater economic security.
ACP provides students with academic counseling, an individualized plan of education, and financial aid application assistance free of charge. With ACP’s help, 89% of students enrolled in the program in Fiscal Year 2012-2013 successfully completed their initial semester courses.
