Thanking Veterans on Veterans Day

Veterans Day is the day we officially thank our veterans for the service and sacrifice they've made on our behalf. Without their bravery and dedication, we could not enjoy the safety, security, and freedom that we do.
On Veterans Day, I think of my little sister, who just returned home from her second tour in Iraq. It's easy to forget about the significance of her work. Some of that is because she's not allowed to talk about it, but mostly, it's because military service is her job and she never asks for special recognition for doing her job. That's the case with most active duty and veteran soldiers. They do what they do because keeping us safe is their job.
Today, it's my duty to thank my little sister for her service and sacrifice. On Veterans Day, it's our duty to thank all veterans for what they do for us each and every day.
The good news is that there are many ways we can thank our veterans. Visit the Department of Veterans Affairs's volunteer site for information about ways you can give back. If you're ready to
volunteer now, go directly to the VA's volunteer sign up
form.
