Del Ray Patch Seeks Contributors, Green Roof for City Hall, Housing Lists Open: This Week's Latest ACTion
- With the weak economy, so many people in the area have fallen on hard times. Drew Hansen of the Del Ray Patch believes that because of the economic crisis the single "American Dream" no longer exists. He argues that there are now many. - Construction began last week on a brand new "green" roof for City Hall, funded by a grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. It will significantly reduce the building's energy cost, lessen storm water runoff and is built to last, therefore saving money in the fiscal budget. To read more, visit the City's website.
- Today the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority (ARHA) opened lists for both its Public Housing and Housing Choice Voucher programs. The lists will remain open until this Friday.
