What is Quintango?

With Joan Singer as the Alexandria ensemble's leader and Jennifer Rickard, Phil Hosford, Libby Blatt, and Kerry Van Laanen backing her up, Quintango has spread harmonious music to every corner of the world like the White House, Kennedy Center and Buenos Aires and France. But it is Quintango's charitable contributions, that make it extraordinary as it teaches tango to Alexandria schools and at-risk youth through its many workshops.

Want to learn to dance like George Washington? Intrigued by the wonders of "modern" science? Then come to Gadsby's Tavern Museum's free opne house - Tavern Day! Experience Alexandria's five-star hotel of the 18th century, made famous by John Gadsby, whose guests included George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. Tours are led by costumed guides.

1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery Program

Learn about army life for Union artillerymen stationed in the Defenses of Washington at Fort Ward Museum's living history program, "Civil War Artillery with the 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery." The reenactors of the 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery portray the duties and soldier life of a regiment that was stationed at Fort Ward during the Civil War.

Alexandria's Tree Lighting Ceremony

Art on the Avenue

Art on the Avenue is a multicultural arts and music festival that features more than 350 area artists and craftspeople selling their original works. Enjoy three stages of live music, free children's craft activities and enertainment , artists' demonsrations and more! It is held on Mount Vernon Avenue between Hume and Bellefonte Avenues.

TC Williams Planetarium Show

Each month the Planetarium at TC Williams is opened to families and students to learn more about our skies. This educational and exciting experience is led by Bob Nicholson. For the month of January, the program will be about the tragic losses of the Space Shuttle Challenger and Apollo 1.
