The day I met Rex, bouncing up and down in his little "cell" at the Arlington Shelter I knew he was MY dog! The happiness he brought to my parents during their last year was such a delight to watch. The feeling was mutual; he loved his daily visits to Grandma & Grandaddy and they...
Meet Penny-- a rambunctios little border collie mix who recently learned that she loves snow! Her big sister, Millie, stands guard in the background and supervises. My husband and I adopted Millie 3 years ago and Penny joined our family this summer. They're very happy the snow...
Sulley and I are about to celebrate 2 years together. This is her as a puppy. She's part german shepherd/part chicken, and her favorite thing to eat is my Kindle. I rescued my best friend from German Shepherd Rescue & Adoptions (based out of North Carolina).
Charity was adopted from Homeward Trails Animal Rescue in 2013. She's fun, she's calm--and the most athletic dog I've ever had. She's was featured in the Summer 2013 issue of NOVA Dog Magazine as the Wags to Riches story. I don't think I could love her more.

Believe it or not, this is our cat, Whitney, watching the Disney movie Aristocats!
We adopted Stella from the Alexandria shelter when she was about four months old (named Opus by the AWLA shelter). She is almost 10 years old now and weighs in at about 85 lbs. She is unique and perfectly wonderful in almost every way, including her looks. On walks, people always ask us what...

Joy Boy unexpectedly came into my life a year ago. This is his sixth home in seven years. Joy Boy knew his name but not much more. We've worked hard on housetraining, walking on a leash, playing nicely with others in dog parks and respecting his feline housemate, Bettie D....
This is Kaipo (formerly Bingo) who was rescued by Homeward Trails. I named him Kaipo because it means "sweetheart" in Hawaiian - not only is he a very sweet pup but I also got the phone call from Homeward Trails on Valentines Day to let me know he was available for adoption. Kaipo is a...

Valerie (the Dachshund) remembering when she was the only one in this "wagtime" and barely tolerating Bryce so as to please her masters.
My kitty Marigold loves all kinds of flowers--not just the ones she's named after! Here she is enjoying some tulips in her favoite vase.
This picture was taken on a hot day last summer. Can't you just feel the drool dripping off his tongue? Cooper is a fun loving dog who loves running and playing outside. He goes crazy over treats of any kind and he especially loves a peanut butter kong. He's fiercey loyal and won't leave...
Jack knows he's hot stuff... that's why he loves to check himself out in the mirror all the time. It takes hard work to be this handsome!
