Healthy Families Alexandria Needs Your File Cabinet

End Date: Fri, 02/11/2011 - 9:17am

Do you have three 2 drawer locking file cabinets that need a good home? Healthy Families Alexandria needs file cabinets to enable staff to organize and store confidential files and documents. If you have new or used 2 drawer locking filing cabinets, they could not find a better home.

I was lucky enough to be able to attend one of Healthy Families Alexandria's home visits, and I can't tell you how impressed I was with the service they provide young parents and their children to make sure they have the skills, information, and resources they need to suceed.

Healthy Families Alexandria provides free services to vulnerable first time parents of young children in Alexandria. Intensive home visits are made on a weekly basis by specially-trained Family Support Workers.

  • We teach pregnant women about nutritious eating and the importance of consistent prenatal care in order to ensure healthy birth outcomes.
  • We explain and model positive parenting skills in order to help parents bond with their infants and toddlers and discipline them in loving and effective ways.
  • We assess the child regularly as s/he grows to ensure proper physical, intellectual, language, social and emotional development; refer parents to early intervention services as needed.
  • We connect parents to vital community services, such as health providers, playgroups, child care and preschools, as well as any necessary emergency services, such as food banks and shelters.
