Thank you for all of your UNselfies! What an amazing #GivingTuesday!

Congratulations to the Child and Family Network Centers, the winner of the 2014 #GivingTuesday Photo Challenge!

On Tuesday, December 2, 2014 or #GivingTuesday, post a photo of a sign with your favorite nonprofit's name with the hashtag #GivingTuesday by clicking on Add Your Idea and then uploading a photo. After you post, make sure to give to that nonprofit as well! We're encouraging minimum donations of $20.14 for #GivingTuesday 2014, the biggest #GivingTuesday yet!

Here's how:

  1. Make a sign pledging your support of your favorite nonprofit serving Alexandria and  #GivingTuesday. Need a template? Click here.
  2. Take a photo of yourself or another individual (or animal) holding the sign.
  3. Login to ACTion or make a new account-it's free and easy!
  4. Click on Add Your Idea and upload your photo.
  5. The nonprofits that are represented in at least three photos will be entered in a prize drawing for $100!
  6. Want to help promote #GivingTuesday through social media? Tweet your photo @GivingTues and @ACTionAlexVA with #unselfie. We'll be tweeting out your photos as well!
  7. Questions? Please contact: Kerrin Epstein at kerrin.epstein@actforalexandria.org or 703-739-7778.

And here's some inspiration from ACT's office mascot, Maggie Porter and her dad, John Porter, President and Chief Executive Officer of ACT for Alexandria (we recommend giving money instead of biscuits):

Marilyn is the dog I am fostering. She came to me from the awesome folks at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. The work they do day in and day out for our friends with paws (and wings and other funny appendages) cannot be calculated. Support them today on #GivingTuesday. And support them...

Crouton is one of the friendliest, most outgoing bunny we have ever had at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. She likes going with our Youth Coordinator to visit children and help them learn about the care of animals.  So, it only makes sense that she would want to hop into the action...

"I coordinate 1,000 #unselfie volunteers every year!" With all those volunteers running the front desk, making meals, and providing many other services, it takes a lot of planning! Our volunteer coordinator works hard to make sure it all gets done. #unselfie
