Community Garden Mural With Live Planter Boxes
Painted mural of a Community Garden on the North wall of VeloCity Bicycle Co-op (2111 Mt. Vernon Avenue) where a living wall would be built (real planter boxes would be attached to the wall). The planter boxes would line up with the rows for the produce, showing the way a Community Garden works. Fresh produce would actually be grown in these planters (carrots, onions, potatos, etc.) and donated to shelters, families in need. The gardeners that will be painted can also have interesting planter boxes (growing beards, hair). The cost we are asking for is $2,000 -- while the overall cost will exceed $2,000, VeloCity Bicycle Co-op will raise the additional funds. We would have the community children help plant the boxes as well as help water them. The painted mural of a "live community garden" would also be a unique way to add great public art!
