Native Oak and Fern Planting at Chinquapin Park

Chinquapin Park, located at 3210 King Street
This Saturday will mark the final work day event of the year at Chinquapin Park. The park needs your help. Volunteers are welcome to come take part in the ecological restoration along sections of the park's main trail and entrance. There will be small, medium and large size planting that needs to be completed as well as the restoration of several species of Upland Oaks.
Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy shoes and planting gloves. The group will be meeting at the entrance sign.

Come help kick off inauguration weekend with a celebration to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and volunteer! On Saturday, January 19th, hundreds of volunteers will assist nonprofit agencies providing services to people in need as well as provide educational activities to children and youth. In Alexandria, volunteers are needed to assist children and teenagers creating a story book. Volunteers are needed for set up, registration, implementing arts and crafts projects, clean up, and much more.
