Are you tired of the Winter cold and doldrums?  Here is a solution.  Attend our Council KOVAR Dinner & Silent Auction on Saturday March 21. This event is OPEN to the PUBLIC. When:  Saturday March 21Where:  Mount Vernon Council Home- 8592 Richmond Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22309.Time:  Doors Open at 6 PM Meet & Greet & Visit the Auction Tables.  Cash Bar (Beer & Wine)               Sodas Free               Dinner 7 PM to 8 PM Ticket Cost  $ 25.00 per person                                                                                                                                                                                                          Tickets are now available through Eve Dellett, Facilities/ Business Manager (703) 360-1964 Ext 1    Open Wed- Fri (9 AM -5 PM Doors will open at 6 PM for Meet and Greet and visiting the Silent Auction tables.   Dinner is planned from 7 to 8 PM.   All funds from the Silent Auction will go to KOVAR.   This is a very worthy Virginia Knights charity fund raiser to benefit Virginia citizens with intellectual disabilitie KOVAR is the Virginia State Knights' non-profit 501(C)(3) corporation created to assist Virginians with Intellectual Disabilities (ID). KOVAR is a 100% volunteer effort of the Virginia Knights of Columbus.  KOVAR has no employees and its Board of Directors take no salaries. KOVAR collects donations through the volunteer efforts of the members and families of the Knights of Columbus and distributes the funds collected in the form of grants and loans to tax-exempt organizations that serve “God’s Special People” with intellectual disabilities in Virginia.   KOVAR funds are used for:  Funding of Group Homes; Funding of furniture and fixtures for Group homes;  Employment and training programs; Funding of Transportation for vehicles designed with wheel chair lifts and safety equipment to assist Virginians with ID to get to and from work and social events; Funding to acquire the necessary equipment to enable the ID to work safely; Funding of health assistance; Funding of recreation programs such as Special Olympics; and Funding of respite care for Virginians with Intellectual Disabilities so family members can have some time to regenerate their batteries, etc.  As in previous years, all funds raised will go to support the intellectually disabled citizens of Virginia regardless of race, color, religion or national origin. Items for the Silent Auction include:  Restaurant Gift cards and Certificates from Joe Theismann's Restaurant and autographed picture; Magliano's Restaurant;  Fiona's Irish Pub; Capitol City Brewing ; Primo Restaurant; Mon Cheri Nails & Spa gift certificate;  Autographed Nationals' baseball; Writer's Basket; Wine Basket; Towel Basket; Car Care Basket; Cooking Class gift Certificate from Williams & Sonoma  for up to six people given by a professional Chef; New Golf bag with box of balls; 4-18 hole rounds at Greendale Golf Course; indoor golf practice set; Painting by a local artist; antiques (Glassware and furniture) etc.s.
