Did you know that research has shown that summer learning loss equals about one month of instruction or more? Or that children's test scores tend to be lower in the fall than in the spring? (Cooper, 2003).

Charles Barrett Recreation Center and ACTion Alexandria are teaming up to promote healthy play and continued learning over the summer by hosting a family game night on Wednesday, July 16 at Charles Barrett Recreation Center, 1115 Martha Custis Dr. Alexandria, VA 22302. (Want to join the fun? RSVP).

Each child attending the event will receive a free summer activity kit including a board game, a book and a craft activity. In order to fill the activity kits, ACTion is asking for donations of new or gently worn board games or books, and we want to know your suggestions for educational board games to put on the wish list
