Alexandria Named 'Most Generous' Kelley Cares 5K, City Council Needs Volunteers and More: This Week's Latest ACTion

  • According to Convio, Alexandria is the most generous online giving city in America followed closely by Arlington and Washington D.C. Tad Drurat, a representative at Convio, a company that processes donations for nearly 1,300 nonprofits, says "[locals] are living a wired lifestyle."
  • The Carlyle Community News blog reports that the Kelley Cares 5K Run/Walk will take place on April 16th, 2011.  Yes, the date is far away.  But this very important event will benefit The Therapeutic Recreation Program of Alexandria!   • The City Council is looking for applicants to fill vacancies on a number of committees. These include the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee, the Human Rights Commission and the Commission on HIV/AIDS.  All applications are due no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, January 28th at the City Clerk's Office.  You can also submit your forms online via the City website.  Help make a difference today!
