This Week: Help Center for Alexandria’s Children strengthen homeless families through play
Help build 25 "attachment kits" for Alexandria homeless families
This week, we're helping the Center for Alexandria’s Children build 25 "attachment kits" for local homeless families to ensure healthy childhood development and secure and loving parent-child relationships.
Play is a one parent-one child connection that often gets lost when families are under stress, but it's crucial in the development of healthy parent-child attachment. When children experience delight with their parents, it not only strengthens relationships but reduces the overwhelming stress and instability homeless families experience.
Just 5 minutes a day of active engagement between children and caregivers in struggling families can reduce oppositional behavior by 50%.
That's why we're helping the CAC put together "attachment kits" full of books and educational games and toys so families can transition out of homelessness closer, stronger, and ready to take on the world.
