Donate your pennies!

Take your change to TD Bank, they'll count it and donate it to SCAN of Northern Virginia.

In Virginia, a child is abused or neglected every 75 minutes, and every 14 days, a child dies from such mistreatment.  Child abuse is often hidden and is usually preventable. Prevention is the best hope for reducing child abuse and neglect and improving the lives of children and families.*

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and as part of a national Prevent Child Abuse America campaign, SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) of Northern Virginia is partnering with TD Bank to collect your pocket change for SCAN.

This week, we want you to collect your loose change from jars, piggy banks, couches, dashboards, and pockets and put it to good use--helping to prevent child abuse!

Take Action Now!

Click the "Take Action" button to find a TD Bank location near you. Then go to any TD Bank with your loose change, use one of their change counting machines, present the teller with your receipt and tell them you want to donate it to SCAN. They'll deposit it directly into SCAN's account.

Our best friend, the RunningBrooke Fund, will double the impact of your donation by providing a $500 match!

Children who are abused are at greater risk of experiencing low self-esteem, depression or other mental illness, drug/alcohol dependence, becoming pregnant as a teen, becoming homeless or chronically unemployed, and entering the criminal justice system as a teen or as an adult. Abused children are also more likely to abuse their own children when they become parents themselves.

By making a gift to SCAN, you are touching the lives of children and families across Alexandria!
