This Week: 30 Baby Home Safety Kits Needed for Healthy Families Alexandria
Donate A Home Safety Kit!
Donate $15 toward a Home Safety Kit and help Healthy Families Alexandria keep young children safe in their homes.
This week, we are helping Healthy Families Alexandria provide Home Safety Kits to protect young children from common accidental injuries in their homes.
As young children grow and become more curious and independent, it’s hard even for the most careful parents to keep up with where they are and what they’re doing at all times. About 2.5 million children are injured or killed each year by dangers right in their own home, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Using Home Safety Kits to child proof your home prevents common accidents that endanger children.
Healthy Families Alexandria, a program of Northern Virginia Family Service, provides voluntary home-visiting services to vulnerable first-time parents in Alexandria. By providing Home Safety Kits to families, Healthy Families Alexandria is able to ensure that their home environment is as safe as possible for their child to develop happily and healthfully. At regular intervals according to the child’s development, parents and home visitors go through a home safety checklist to determine areas of potential danger and develop a plan to address areas of need, including the installation of outlet covers and door latches – items that are included in a Home Safety Kit.
Help Healthy Families keep homes safe for young children by donating $15 toward the purchase of 30 Home Safety Kits. Help us meet our goal!
