Volunteer Success for Ruby Tucker Center Read-Aloud Program

You Did it!!!

Thanks to your enthusiastic response, The Reading Connection has 23 volunteers signed up as readers for the new Read-Aloud Program at the Ruby Tucker Center. After attending an orientation on Saturday, the new volunteers will spend 1 hour each month reading aloud to children at the Ruby Tucker Center, and at the end of each session, the kids go home with a book of their own. The Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority partnered with The Reading Connection to create the new Read-Aloud Program at the Ruby Tucker Center.

Can I Still Sign Up?

Yes, The Reading Connection always needs more volunteers for its Read-Aloud program. If you love kids and books and can commit to reading once a month at this time and place, please go to The Reading Connection’s website and complete the volunteer application or contact Stephanie Berman at (703) 528-8317 ext.10. or by email at sberman@thereadingconnection.org. This is a great volunteer opportunity for both individuals and groups.

Can I Donate?

Yes! The Reading Center also appreciates monetary donations for books and other supplies. Your donation will also help to keep the center running. There is no recommended amount. Give whatever you can afford. Donations can be from you personally or can be made in tribute to a loved one. Just go to TRC’s website and click “Donate Now.”
